이기원경북대학교에서 천문대기과학으로 학사를, 동 대학 일반대학원에서 천문학으로 석사를, 런던대학(University College London)에서 천문학으로 박사 학위를 취득하였다. 한국천문연구원 고천문연구그룹에서 박사후연구원을 지냈으며, 현재는 대구가톨릭대학교에 재직하고 있고 한국천문학회의 편집위원으로 활동하고 있다. 최근 연구로는 『Astronomical Records in the Goguri Annal of the Three Kingdoms Period』, 『고려시대 천문현상 기록집』, 『Identification of solar halo terms in observations recorded in historical Korean documents』 등이 있다. 대표작
