이화여대 미래교육연구소 연구교수
서울대에서 교육학(주전공)과 철학(부전공)을 공부하며 학부 과정을 보낸 뒤, 교육인류학 전공으로 석사 학위를 취득했다. 이후 뉴욕주립대 버팔로캠퍼스에서 “Educational Culture, Policy, and Society” 프로그램으로 박사 학위를 취득했으며, 박사 학위 졸업 논문인 <Class struggle within the middle-class: Academic competition for selective college admissions among Korean ‘early study abroad’ students in the globalized arena>로 ‘UB Excellence in Research, Scholarship and Creativity Award’를 수상했다.
박사 졸업 이후 1년간 뉴욕주립대 버팔로캠퍼스에서 연구원으로 근무했고, 이화여대 미래교육연구소에서 연구교수로 근무하며 서울대, 서울시립대, 이화여대 등에서 강의하고 있다. 대표 논문으로 <Market-based parental involvement: Impact of networks of middle-class mothers in the education marketplace>, <Complexifying Asian American student pathways to STEM majors: Differences by ethnic subgroups and college selectivity> 등이 있다.
