니코스 카찬스키 "그리스도의 수난"을 마르티누가 직접 각색한 오페라 "그리스 수난곡"은 한편으로는 성스러운 그리스도의 수난극을 준비하면서 또 한편으로는 터키군에 쫓겨 피난처를 구하는 난민을 매몰차게 거절하는 그리스 시골 사람들의 삶을 통해 20세기 그리스 현대사와 인간군상을 그려낸 의미심장한 작품이다.

이 DVD는 찰스 매케라스의 1981년 연주에 토마스 지메르다 감독이 체코 배우들을 이끌고 현지에서 촬영한 텔레비전 필름 (1999)을 담은 것이다.

명연주와 체코 배우들의 열연이 결합된 인상적인 영상물로서 최초로 DVD화 되었다.
